Sutter Health Plus Network Hospitals Honored for High-Quality Stroke Care

Five hospitals in the Sutter Health Plus network were recently recognized for providing high-quality stroke care by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association as part of the 2017 “Get With The Guidelines” awards.

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, California Pacific Medical Center, Eden Medical Center, Memorial Medical Center and Mills-Peninsula Medical Center each earned a Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award. This award highlights their commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.

To attain this recognition, hospitals achieved or exceeded performance-focused target indicators set forth by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for at least two consecutive years. The hospitals also met or exceeded at least five of eight additional stroke quality measures.

In addition, all five hospitals earned a Target Stroke Honor Roll recognition—with Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and Eden Medical Center receiving Elite Plus Honor Roll status. Hospitals earn honor roll status by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnoses and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period.

Developed with the goal to save lives and improve recovery time, Get With The Guidelines® has impacted more than 3 million patients  since 2003.

Each of the honored hospitals are designated by The Joint Commission as Primary Stroke Centers and serve as a resource available to patients needing stroke-related services.
